We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager for our current and next generation cameras, imaging energy filters, specimen preparation equipment and other EM products. The manager will be responsible for working closely with the System, Software, NPI  Hardware groups and manufacturing to provide the electrical designs.  This position will be based out of our Pleasanton, CA office.

 

The primary function of this role will be as an Engineering Manager leading complex, mixed signal systems including architecture, hardware design, sustaining and releasing through the NPI team. The incumbent will be responsible for defining system requirements and integration, as well as maintenance and support of current products.

 

Role:

  • Lead and develop a team of electrical engineers to design industry leading complex, mixed signal systems including architecture, hardware design, sustaining and releasing through the NPI team
  • Oversee and manage design workflows for highly complex PCBAs with integrated compute, high speed I/O, data converters, and power distribution.
  • Develop and oversee project timelines and deliverables, prioritizing milestones in line with Gatan’s project priorities.
  • Architect ultra high-speed mixed signal systems to achieve the most efficient and flexible imaging systems
  • Ensure competitiveness through continuous technical innovation and industry expertise

 

Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university, MS degree is a plus
  • 8+ years of hardware development with 3+ years managing or leading electrical design teams
  • 8+ years of professional experience in mixed-signal and high-speed digital hardware design. Examples include high speed ADC’s and DAC’c, SerDes and high speed serial links, networking, JESD204B/C
  • 8+ years of PCB-level experience designing hardware from concept through production (schematic capture, layout, bring-up, DVT, etc)
  • Proven leadership through project management, mentorship, and people management experience
  • A passion for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple concurrent projects and hands-on engineering
  • Extensive experience in low noise high speed mixed signal PCBs, schematics, layout, modeling, and functional simulation
  • Strong comfort level working in a lab environment using digital embedded system debug tools (ICE, logic analyzers, JTAG, Oscilloscopes)

 

 

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $160,000
Salary Maximum:  $200,000 +
