Job Description: 

 

The IT Manager will lead the strategic direction, implementation, and ongoing operation of information technology systems and infrastructure for the global business operations of the Vision Research business unit within AMETEK. This role partners closely with business leaders and the Materials Analysis Division IT Director to identify opportunities where technology can enhance business capabilities, support digital transformation initiatives, and deliver competitive advantages.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic IT Leadership

  • Develop and align IT strategies, infrastructure, and policies with the company's vision, objectives, and business goals.
  • Partner with business unit leadership to identify opportunities where information technology can improve operational capabilities and support business growth.
  • Influence and hold IT teams and business stakeholders accountable for compliance with corporate-directed initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging technology trends and software solutions to support business needs and continuous improvement.

Infrastructure & Operations Management

  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, security, and performance of networks, servers, hardware, and related infrastructure.
  • Define, develop, implement, and support computer-based systems and associated business processes.
  • Resolve complex IT system issues and oversee troubleshooting activities.
  • Ensure the business adheres to all corporate information security standards and policies.

Security & Compliance

  • Identify vulnerabilities and implement measures to ensure the security and integrity of data systems.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate information security requirements.
  • Apply awareness of AI-assisted IT tools while ensuring appropriate consideration of data security risks.

Project & Digital Transformation Leadership

  • Lead technical aspects of digital initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of projects, including:
      • ERP implementations and migrations
      • ERP/CRM application integrations
      • IT infrastructure optimization
      • IT service delivery improvements
      • Digital transformation initiatives
  • Advance project management practices within IT through standard processes, solution utilization, and consistent delivery methodologies.

Team Leadership & Vendor Management

  • Lead, develop, and mentor IT personnel, including recruiting, training, and performance management.
  • Prepare and administer operational and capital budgets for the IT function.
  • Manage relationships with software and technology vendors, including software licensing agreements.
  • Operate effectively within a decentralized/shared-services corporate IT environment.

 

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • 6-8 years of industry experience with demonstrated success in IT management.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Experience leading an ERP conversion is required.
  • Experience working within a regulated industry is required.

Technical Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of the business impact of IT tools, technologies, and policies.
  • Experience with Linux platforms.
  • SQL database knowledge and experience.
  • GitLab knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with Aptean Intuitive and Salesforce is strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven direct management style within a lean operating environment.
  • Hands-on experience using a variety of project delivery methodologies.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work across business units and functions.
  • Ability to understand business imperatives and translate them into technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take on new opportunities and difficult challenges with urgency, energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Adaptability and the ability to adjust approach and communication style to meet changing business demands.

 

Working Environment:

  • Reports directly to the Vision Research Division Vice President Business Unit Controller.
  • Maintains a functional reporting relationship with the Materials Analysis Division IT Director.
  • Operates within a corporate IT ecosystem that includes decentralized and shared resources.
  • Occasional travel to other business unit facilities is required.
