Job Description: 

The Detective Technician is responsible for building special radiation detector systems and supporting all phases of Detective manufacturing and service. This role involves assembly, testing, troubleshooting, equipment operation, and maintenance while working with intricate and fragile components.

 

Key Responsibilities

System Assembly & Production Support

  • Clean, stage, and assemble parts for Detective systems.
  • Handle and load germanium (Ge) crystals into Detective systems.
  • Perform soldering and/or brazing of components.
  • Provide support across all phases of Detective manufacturing and service as required.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate helium leak detectors and other vacuum equipment.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of vacuum equipment.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment used in the manufacturing process.

Testing & Quality Control

  • Perform quality control testing to evaluate the performance of Detective systems.
  • Verify system performance and ensure products meet established requirements.

Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot Detective systems when performance does not meet expectations.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues affecting system functionality and performance.

 

Requirements

Education

  • Associate’s Degree required.

Technical Qualifications

  • Intermediate-level experience using oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and other test and measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience using computers.
  • Experience with proper soldering practices.
  • Good knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office applications and computer data entry systems.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with intricate and fragile components.
  • Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work.
