The Process Engineer – Winding role supports the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of stator winding and electrical assembly processes used in the manufacture of Rotron fans and blowers. This position works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Design Engineering teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency within stator manufacturing operations.

 

This role provides an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience with electric motor manufacturing, electrical testing, process improvement, and new product introduction activities.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Stator Winding Process Support

  • Assist with setup, validation, and troubleshooting of stator winding equipment and assembly processes.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, and downtime.
  • Support implementation of standardized work instructions and manufacturing documentation.

Electrical Testing & Quality

  • Assist in analyzing electrical test data including resistance, hipot, surge, and insulation testing.
  • Investigate product failures and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Work with Quality Engineers and Production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Help establish process controls and quality monitoring systems.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends and opportunities for process enhancement.
  • Assist in conducting time studies and production efficiency evaluations.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and problem-solving activities.

Equipment Support

  • Assist with commissioning and validation of winding machines, test equipment, and manufacturing tooling.
  • Support troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and controls systems.
  • Work with maintenance personnel to improve equipment reliability and uptime.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Support manufacturing readiness activities for new motor designs and stator configurations.
  • Develop work instructions and process parameters
  • Participate in process validation and pilot production builds

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Internship, co-op, senior project, or academic experience related to manufacturing, electrical systems, or automation.
  • Basic knowledge of electromagnetics and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Internship or project experience involving electric motors or electromagnetic devices.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with data analysis and basic statistical methods.
  • Understanding of electrical testing methods and instrumentation.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
