Job Description: 

As the Operations Manager, Metals Value Stream, you will be responsible for all manufacturing related activities within the Rotron machining department.  In this position you will be accountable for the daily management and direction of a cross functional team which includes Manual Machinists, CNC Operators, Programming resources, Die Casting interfacing with the Machining Process/Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Planning departments.  You will be tasked to define clear operational schedules, priorities, goals, and to collaborate with functional management to allow for the vertically integrated site to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity KPI’s.  A strong working knowledge and proven track record of implementing a robust TPM program for the site will help you be successful in this role. You will also directly support manufacturing activities and spend significant amounts of time in and around factory areas, spending occasional extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.  To achieve excellence in this role, you will use your proven skills and experience in both manufacturing and technical leadership.

  • Join other Ametek Lean Professionals in advancing the site to world class performance levels- the products we manufacture offer world class performance in the most demanding applications and we expect out supporting Operations to perform at those levels as well.
  • Utilize overall knowledge of world class Machining Operations best practices, TPM being the foundation but Lean work in setup reduction, common tooling, and machine utilization will be a significant area of focus
  • Ensure we have the best tools for the job, make recommendations for processes that are being run on non-optimized equipment
  • Provide the required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure all employees work in a safe working environment
  • Utilize your analytical ability and Excel skills to analyze manufacturing data such as earned hours, utilization, throughput and other KPIs
  • Ensure compliance to all pertinent operating procedures and work instructions

 

What you will bring to the role:

 

  • Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years relevant experience OR an advanced degree and five (5) years of relevant experience OR in absence of a degree twelve (12) years of relevant experience with demonstratable results in prior roles
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts and implementation required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • Ability to lead teams through Kaizen and Problem Solving exercises; experience utilizing 8D or similar problem solving methodology perferred
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Engineering practices and instructions
  • Strong knowledge of Production Control concepts including WIP management and TAKT
  • Significant experience with manufacturing data analysis and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to motivate Jr. Operators to more senior roles
  • Understanding of and experience in highly regulated Aerospace, Automotive, or Medical manufacturing requirements

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $140,000
Salary Maximum:  $170,000
