Position reports to: MRO Cell Manager
Position Summary
The MRO Lead is responsible for managing the daily operations of repair orders within the MRO Department, ensuring timely turnaround, compliance with quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves coordinating repair activities, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and maintaining inventory accuracy and integrity. The MRO Lead plays a key role in supporting business objectives and meeting customer expectations through effective oversight of repair workflows and resource management.
Supervisory Responsibilties
The MRO Lead directly manages scheduled repairs and collaborates with other departments as necessary. This role involves working closely with MRO customer service and coordinating repair activities within FAA regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support planning activities under the MRO Cell Manager's guidance.
- Act as deputy for the MRO Cell Manager and provide coverage as required.
- Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly execution plans in alignment with cross-functional teams.
- Perform analysis and repair of mechanical and electronic assemblies based on specifications and documentation.
- Conduct testing and reassembly of parts, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Coordinate repair activities compliant with FAA regulations.
- Liaise with various departments including Customer Services, Operations, Engineering, and Sales.
- Facilitate training programs for MRO-Repair personnel as defined by MRO Manager.
- Fulfill additional requests from management and directors.
- Provide flexible support during reduced staff attendance periods.
- Update daily tracking WIP schedules, performance metrics, and process flow status of WIP repairs.
- Manage inventory control processes, ensuring accurate stock levels and traceability of repairable and consumable items.
- Coordinate MRO Daily Cycle Counts and shelf-life monitoring and ensure timely disposition or replenishment of time-sensitive materials.
- Oversee calibration control of tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Manage MRO-Repair cell inventory based on business activities and customer commitments.
- Not permitted to change Business Management / SOP processes, procedures and guidelines without formal approval but expected to make recommendations when necessary.
Reqiured Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Oracle ERP system.
- Familiarity with JIT, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S programs.
- Competence in using mechanical and electrical inspection tools.
- Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Repairman Certificate.
- Support audit functions related to MRO Department.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Inventory Management Systems knowledge (e.g., barcode scanning, cycle counts, traceability).
- Understanding of Shelf-Life tracking and material expiration protocols.
- Calibration program oversight, including scheduling, documentation, and tool traceability.
- Familiarity with AS9110, ISO 9001, FAA Part 145 Regulations standards for repair station quality systems.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills for maintaining accurate records and logs.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and repair manuals.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal departments and external vendors.
Education and Experience
- Previous experience in Aftermarket Business preferred.
- Associate's degree preferred; High school diploma required.
- Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
Physical Requirements
Prolong periods of standing, bending, and lifting of 20lbs is required.
