Job Description:
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for verifying and keeping records on incoming shipments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receives supplies and materials for overhaul and rewind areas; reviews purchase orders to ensure appropriate supplies and/or materials have been received. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Reviews paperwork for received items; issues work order; routes to appropriate department.
- Operates hand truck or forklift to unload shipments from trucks.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED; and six months to one years previous receiving or warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute amounts such as discounts, interest, and percent.
- Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers, including the ability to speak simple sentences; listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, work orders, and memos. Ability to read and understand blue prints. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and procedures furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to operate the software and equipment used in the department, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Siteline.
- Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, vendors, and customers.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
