Job Description: 

The Research & Development Engineer will be responsible for development and qualification testing of products at various stages of the engineering product development process, compiling and distributing test results, and authoring test procedures and reports.   The R&D Engineer must be able to understand engineering blueprints and documents and have a good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment. In addition, the R&D Engineer will be responsible for working with the Quality department to maintain calibrations on test equipment.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering technology discipline
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude. Experience working with hand tools, power tools, hydraulics, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical circuitry.  Experience using relays, contactors, switching mechanisms.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical test equipment like vibration shakers, temperature and altitude test chambers, dynamometers, power supplies, data acquisition equipment, and electrical load banks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work with: DC motors, linear and rotary actuators, generators, and some electronics.
  • Ability to perform RTCA-DO160 electrical and environmental testing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with and convert various units of measure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to follow and author technical procedures and reports.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to operate the test equipment used in the department, including but not limited to DMM’s, oscilloscopes, DAQ units, dynamometers, etc.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted.

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $90,000
Salary Maximum:  $110,000
