What you will do:
- Utilize Lean manufacturing methods to reduce costs and improve quality; Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing, Engineering and Materials Planning to eliminate unnecessary operations and clarify process instructions
- Utilize root cause analysis and the scientific method to investigate and resolve product, equipment, and tooling problems
- Identify new or additional equipment needs related to existing or new product manufacture; Evaluate new or used equipment to determine benefits and return on investment, the ability to maintain the physical and dimensional requirements of components and products, and the ability to meet safety and ergonomic requirements; Prepare appropriations for approvals and administer spending of budgeted dollars
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering Manager in the preparation of investment and expense budgets for the addition or modification of equipment related to the short and long-range needs of the business
- Participate and assist Sales and Engineering in the design of new products related to manufacturing and equipment requirements; Coordinate new product introductions with Production Supervisors, Team Leaders, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Engineering personnel to implement the production of new products; Draft and follow up on all documentation including engineering specifications and manufacturing procedures
- Direct and execute Operational Excellence projects and other projects aimed at meeting division objectives
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.) is required
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment; or combination of education and experience
- Experience and knowledge of Lean manufacturing engineering, manufacturing processes, machine shop practices, and electromechanical principles; Familiar with characteristics and cutting qualities of materials, function, and operation of machine tools; assembly, inspection, and material flow
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering prints, electrical diagrams, company safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and company procedure manuals; Ability to read and interpret documents relating to all phases of operation of a manufacturing facility
- Experience with Oracle desired
