Job Description:
As the Electronics Maintenance Technician, you will conduct, maintain, test, and repair electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. You will apply knowledge of electrical/electronics and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and apply skills in restoring equipment to operation. You will provide skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.
What you will do:
- Perform a variety of technical duties to repair and maintain all phases of equipment required by production, including the fabrication of electromechanical machine control mechanism and electronic product test equipment.
- Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
- Investigate and evaluate new equipment, electronic control, and data acquisition methods and determines the effect on present and future product quality and cost. Recommend and implement equipment improvements and evaluate equipment to determine compliance with safety and ergonomic requirements.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gauges, and test equipment.
- Troubleshoot repair, debugging and rebuilding of existing electromechanical machine control mechanisms and test equipment. Disassemble units of a complex nature determining the extent of the problem. Make repairs or replace defective parts and reassemble.
- Work with schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, computers, written and verbal instructions, hand tools, precision measuring, and testing instruments.
- Install, start up, and shut down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements. Advise operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components. Inform appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
- Perform and document preventative maintenance on specified machinery and associated equipment.
- Record and maintain files on electronic circuit designs.
- Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
- Create, propose, and implement cost reduction programs.
- On occasion may assist other maintenance personnel in the installations of facilities.
- Assist maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting; Assist and train other maintenance and/or other technical level employees.
- Perform other related duties.
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas
- Computer experience/operation and PLC programming are necessary
- Experience troubleshooting electrical devices down to the component level
- Advanced electrical knowledge in an industrial environment, including 480-volt 3 phase (preferred)
- Associate Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology (preferred)
- Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Willing to work overtime as needed
- Ability to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines, and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work
- Must be highly safety conscious
