Job Description: 

The Buyer is an essential member of the SCP materials management team contributing to operational success.  The Buyer is responsible for the effective and efficient procurement of precision/intricate machined parts, cable, moldings, and outside processing operations.  The Buyer reports to the Materials Manager and works closely with the SCP Busines Director, Engineering, Quality, Sales and Accounting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process purchase orders per MRP report, negotiate pricing, delivery times, net terms, supplier source selection, measure supplier OTD performance, and maintain accurate costs.
  • Manage purchase order dates.
  • Partner with Materials Manager for understanding of the production backlog and changing MRP dates to drive on-time delivery.
  • Identify long lead time items and order appropriately to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Develop and maintain purchasing methods for efficient procurement of material in a cost-effective manner.
  • Establish, maintain, and promote positive relationships with vendors to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Interface with Manufacturing, Production Control, Quality, Sales, and Engineering to achieve the smooth flow of materials and services.


Requirements for Consideration:

  • A Bachelor's degree and at least two years’ experience in a procurement position of technical products for a manufacturing organization. 
  • Familiarity with military specifications, INCO terms, and Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Solid understanding and working experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to present solutions clearly and concisely to communicate requirements and constraints related to RFQ data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-starter who can work effectively on an individual/team basis & ability to successfully handle multiple, high priority issues simultaneously.
  • Expert skills with MS Office products, including Word and Excel.
  • CPM and/or CPIM certification are a plus.
  • For the purposes of ITAR regulations, applicants should be US citizens or permanent residents.

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $60,000
Salary Maximum:  $80,000
Incentive:  No
