Job Summary: 

The successful candidate will manage the Software Engineering team activities including architectural design, project management of R&D projects, firmware and software design that meet the cost, performance and timeliness requirements defined by AMETEK’s Business Unit (BU).  Plan, implement and oversee software engineering strategies to support product roadmap.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct department activities to design new product platforms that will transition into strategic commercial products. Develop and ensure adherence to project timetables, unit cost targets and development budgets.
  • Must work with sales management, sales representatives, customers, and end users to create “Best in Class” products for their applications.
  • Directs and coordinates the work of Software engineers working on assigned projects.
  • Follows Powervar’s product development process (Stage Gate)
  • Manage DevOps systems including Git and CI/CD.
  • Must maintain a close relationship with marketing and sales to understand the changing market requirements.
  • Coordinates all third-party consultants and outside services utilized for Software product design activities.
  • Participates in market studies and advises on architectural technologies, current and emerging.
  • Manages the testing of all software products to ensure they are compliant with product expectations.
  • Advises the leadership team on current state and future state technologies and trends.
  • Represents the company as a customer contact regarding significant technical matters.
  • Consults with R&D hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operation and performance requirements for overall system.
  • Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility within time and cost constraints.
  • Formulate and design software systems using OOA and OOD methods to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
  • Software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis.
  • Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation.
  • Support, maintain and document software functionality.
  • Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years leading a small to medium size software development group.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ related experience in a Software Development Environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with C, C++, JavaScript, IoT, REST API, HTML, TCP/IP, Git, Windows, Linux and Embedded Linux.
  • Ability to work with other disciplines such as Electrical and Mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with Object Orientated Design and Analysis.
  • Experience with Thread Synchronization
  • Experience with developing and maintaining networked devices, including Wifi enabled devices. Must be familiar with Cybersecurity standards.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), React.js and/or Node.js experience is a significant plus.
  • Experience with FreeRTOS is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
