Summary of Position

The Plant Manager role directs efforts of manufacturing and manufacturing support functions at the Waukegan, IL facility in carrying out production objectives safely at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements while meeting delivery goals.  This role is primarily managing, mentoring, and developing other manufacturing personnel. 

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, management, or technical field or equivalent experience required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in leadership role preferred.
  • Proven understanding of P&L structure for a manufacturing facility.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP experience.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with excellent organizational skills is necessary.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and work well with others.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor manufacturing operations to meet or exceed safety requirements, quality standards, delivery goals, and cost objectives through effective utilization of personnel, equipment, tooling, and facilities.
  • Coordinate and ensure the execution of manufacturing schedules established by customer requirements, material management, plant capacity, and policy.
  • Lead and develop a Lean culture.
  • Confer with subordinates and other plant personnel on the application of production methods and standards, and adherence to safety and quality programs.  Work with subordinates and other personnel to improve safety, quality, delivery, and costs.  Drive and facilitate long-term quality and delivery improvements and cost reductions. 
  • Maintain adequate staffing to support manufacturing requirements and company objectives.  Maintain plans to support anticipated growth including staffing, equipment, and facilities.  This may include participation in long-range planning.
  • Help develop, implement, and participate in training and development programs.
  • Manage manufacturing’s participation in new product introduction to reasonably assure that design for manufacturing practices are followed, manufacturing requirements are completed on-time, and policies and procedures are followed during the development process.
  • Maintain, recommend, and implement changes to facility layout to facilitate best manufacturing practices and improve product flow.
  • Identify equipment needs for production and develop capital requests and justification proposals.
  • Oversee the maintenance and safety of buildings, equipment, plant security, and protection.
  • Accountable for quality, cost of production, warehousing, receiving and shipping of materials either directly or through appropriate subordinates.
  • Participate to maintain and enhance the company’s ISO and FDA programs and certifications.
  • Ensure plant conformance to government laws and regulations.
  • Determine plant procedures and objectives consistent with corporate policies and direct the application of such to the plant’s manufacturing operations.
  • Perform any other related duties and assignments as required.
