Title: Director, Human Resources              

 

Job Summary:

The Director, Human Resources, is a strategic, tactical, and hands-on role, providing comprehensive HR support to the Power Protection & Quality Solutions (PPQS) Business Unit (BU). This position is characterized by flexibility, exceptional communication skills, and a high level of drive. The Director excels in managing high-volume workloads and is always ready to "roll up their sleeves." This role is crucial for executing our people initiatives, delivering outstanding internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Partners with the Business/Strategic Alignment/ Global Perspective

  • Provides strategic and proactive guidance to the VP, Business Unit Manager (BUM) on key human resource issues and opportunities within the Business Unit
  • Collaborates with the VP, BUM to map key HR initiatives within the BU, such as  talent management, performance management, employee engagement, succession planning, and leadership development
  • Identifies linkages across the business and assesses implications from a talent, structure, and skills perspective
  • Develops restructuring and organizational design plans to optimize business performance
  • Provides support and guidance for international business operations

 

Change Management           

  • Initiates changes aligned with business strategies
  • Manages change processes and provides coaching to the leadership team
  • Develops change strategies and creates a roadmap for implementing change within the BU

 

Talent Acquisition, Development & Management

  • Develops short- and long-term workforce plans by identifying staffing and talent needs for manufacturing, in collaboration with local management
  • Creates and implements development plans for high-potential employees, ensuring effective follow-up with business leaders
  • Executes workforce plans efficiently to meet organizational goals
  • Oversees the entire recruiting process, managing activities to attract, motivate, and retain qualified individuals capable of achieving business objectives

 

Employee Engagement & Employee Relations

  • Adopts a hands-on approach to monitor the "pulse" of employees, ensuring high levels of engagement
  • Counsels employees and management on issues such as complaint resolution, fair and consistent treatment, policy interpretation, and disciplinary actions
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough and objective investigations, and involving upper management and the legal department as needed

 

HR Generalist

  • Acts as HR counsel, business partner, and coach, providing functional expertise across all HR disciplines
  • Ensures uniform and equitable application of AMETEK’s policies and procedures
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state employment and labor legislation, overseeing processes such as monthly headcount reconciliation, sexual harassment prevention training, annual policy reviews, and open enrollment management
  • Collaborates closely with managers to offer expertise and hands-on support in workforce planning, onboarding, employee retention, employee relations, management coaching, performance management, and change management
  • Manages and resolves employee relations issues, recommending and implementing solutions in collaboration with the manager and legal department as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, or similar field
  • 7+ years related HR experience, including progressive generalist career track in human resources
  • Ability to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • SPHR/PHR and/or SHRM SCP/CP preferred
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, theories, and concepts
  • Proven ability to manage the full employment cycle: recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and departure
  • Effective relationship-building skills at all organizational levels
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to delegate and handle day-to-day HR tasks
  • Resourceful support for the HR team and client groups
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: patience, humor, and helpfulness as the front-line contact for employee issues
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Detail-oriented and organized; accuracy is essential

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $135,000
Salary Maximum:  $185,000
Incentive:  Yes
