Job Title:  Accounts Payable Specialist (12 Month Contract)

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this one-year contract role is responsible for all accounts payable and related tasks. This role is onsite. This role requires a high level of accuracy and requires communication with vendors and internal departments. This role requires compliance with company policies, local statutory reporting and US public company reporting, including internal control requirements under Sarbanes Oxley.  This is an in-office position, where the selected candidate will be required to work out of our Waterloo, Ontario office. 

Responsibilities:

• Processing all vendor invoices, including entering invoices, GL coding, processing payments, and filing completed approved payment packages; verifying and entering data in a timely and accurate manner.
• Obtaining approvals for invoice payments and payments runs in accordance with company policies.
• Reviewing and reconciling vendor statements.
• Investigating and resolving vendor invoice, statement, pricing, quantity, and payment discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Using banking software to set up payments, create new templates, and resolve exceptions.
• Overseeing vendor onboarding and master-data changes, including tax, payment, banking, documentation, and verification requirements.
• Processing corporate credit card accounts.
• Accounting for employee T&E expenses using SAP Concur and assisting employees with T&E system and accounting questions.
• Working with internal departments to provide accounting assignments and reporting for purchases.
• Partnering with internal departments to resolve purchasing, receiving, coding, tax, and approval issues.
• Performing month-end general ledger reconciliations for all accounts related to accounts payable, accrued liabilities, and other assigned accounts.
• Continuously improving and streamlining the accounts payable process.
• Maintaining AP procedures and controls, supporting internal audits, and ensuring compliance with company policies, statutory and tax requirements, record-retention requirements, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
• Other related accounting tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Post secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an accounts payable role. 
• Ability to use Windows applications including Word, Excel, etc.
• Experience with ERP systems. Experience with Epicor is an asset.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to handle large volumes of transactions, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
• Strong organizational skills and strong team player with a commitment to providing exceptional internal and external customer service.

Hourly Rate: $30 to $35 per hour.
