Job Title: Senior Lab Technician

Responsible for performing prototyping and tests related to design, manufacture, and customer support of division products. Work directly with Project Engineers and other technicians or independently to ensure that product designs and samples are properly evaluated, and their performance is documented. Possess expertise in multiple technical areas for example: blowers, motors, and electronics. Organize and document own work with little supervision.
What you will do:
- Assemble, construct and test prototypes from engineering drawings and sketches; provide prototype analysis and feedback to engineers.
- Complete routine Requests for Engineering Action (ECN’s) as assigned.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze test data to ensure compliance to performance requirements, provide and implement recommendations for manufacturing and test improvements.
- Modify or create test procedures for manufacturing with support from Project Engineers; design and fabricate test fixtures.
- Support plant manufacturing engineering by providing pilot production and assembly assistance and guidance.
- Support marketing and customers by evaluating product performance in the application; recommend alternative solutions.
- Create technical reports for use by Engineering, Marketing and customers that accurately represent test results.
- Support the department by providing training of other technicians and engineers.
- Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, setup, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
- Design linear and rotating assemblies including material specifications.
- Develop new test equipment, handle mechanical, electrical, and data acquisition aspects of test equipment.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to develop custom test set ups to meet customer requirements.
- Document use of custom tests for production but may also be required to perform the tests.
What we are looking for:
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent required
- 5+ years relevant experience required; experience with similar products and/or fractional horsepower electrical motors and related products a plus.
- Proven knowledge of test and application of fan systems components, motors and/or electronics. Knowledge or experience with typical lab test equipment, ability to fabricate new designs, proven creativity in problem solving required.

- This position requires the ability to lift 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Manual handling of components required during operation.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
