Job Description: 

Haydon Kerk Pittman (HKP), an AMETEK business, is a leading provider of precision motion-control solutions serving medical, laboratory automation, semiconductor, industrial automation, and other advanced technology markets.

We are seeking a Product Manager to serve as the strategic business owner for an assigned market segment spanning multiple product families and technologies. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth through market strategy, portfolio management, customer insight, product innovation, and cross-functional leadership.

Working closely with Engineering, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, Applications Engineering, and Operations, the Product Manager translates market opportunities into portfolio investments, product roadmaps, and commercial results. Success requires strong business acumen, customer engagement, technical curiosity, and the ability to influence outcomes in a matrixed organization.


Key Responsibilities:

Market Strategy, Growth & Customer Leadership

  • Develop and execute growth strategies for an assigned market segment based on customer needs, market trends, competitive intelligence, and Voice of Customer insights.
  • Build deep expertise in customer applications, industry dynamics, and the end-to-end customer journey to identify growth opportunities and remove barriers to adoption.
  • Represent HKP with customers, industry organizations, conferences, and trade shows to strengthen market intelligence and customer relationships.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Applications Engineering to improve customer engagement and accelerate market growth.

Portfolio Ownership, Product Strategy & Innovation

  • Serve as the strategic business owner for a market-focused portfolio spanning multiple products and technologies.
  • Define portfolio strategy, investment priorities, product roadmaps, and lifecycle plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new product, platform, and adjacent market opportunities.
  • Develop business cases, value propositions, and product requirements to support investment decisions.
  • Partner with Engineering to prioritize development initiatives and drive successful commercialization of new products and platforms.
  • Recommend portfolio expansion, rationalization, and resource allocation decisions based on strategic and financial return.

Business Performance & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Own revenue growth, market share, portfolio profitability, and overall market-segment performance.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators including revenue growth, gross margin, market share, design wins, new product vitality, customer experience, and launch effectiveness.
  • Utilize financial, market, and customer data to guide investment decisions and portfolio priorities.
  • Align Engineering, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, and Operations around common growth objectives, roadmap priorities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Deliver portfolio reviews, business performance updates, and strategic recommendations to leadership.

We are looking for:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, Business Development, Strategic Marketing, or a related commercial leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success driving growth, product strategy, and business performance in industrial or technology-focused markets.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and business acumen with experience making data-driven investment decisions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives within a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Preferred

  • Engineering degree and/or MBA.
  • Experience in motion control, automation, robotics, electromechanical systems, or related technologies.
  • Experience serving medical device, laboratory automation, semiconductor, industrial automation, or advanced manufacturing markets.
  • Experience leading Voice of Customer initiatives, portfolio strategy, and successful product launches across multiple product lines or technologies.

  • Build and prioritize a market-driven product roadmap supported by data and sound business cases.

  • Advance strategic growth initiatives and successfully launch products or platforms that deliver measurable commercial results.
  • Improve portfolio performance through stronger market focus, customer insight, and investment prioritization.
