Job Title: Division Vice President, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

The Division Vice President, Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement for the AMS Division will work closely with the Division General Manager and our three Business Units (BU) to facilitate success within the operations and supply chain functions of the Division. This in an individual contributor role that will develop and coordinate divisional operation strategies and policies, working with BU leadership on initiatives that will facilitate improved operational performance. This person will play a critical role in annual strategic planning, operations reviews, and budget presentations to executive management, and will lead the operations due diligence and integration activities for acquisitions made by the AMS Division.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Sets the vision, strategic direction, expectations, and annual objectives for the overall Supply Chain organization; drive execution in all BUs leveraging OPEX tools and techniques.
- Create an environment of continuous improvement by interfacing BU leadership including Plant Managers, Engineering groups, Purchasing, Production and HR, and drive culture of continuous improvement in Operations and Supply Chain through all processes and products in the division.
- Effective project management of supply chain and/or production transitions, as well as supporting new product introductions. Manage a cross-functional team of Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain to ensure that supplies and/or production are moved with minimal disruption.
- Work with BUs on:
- Developing strategic operational initiatives that facilitate achievement of monthly shipment, profit, and working capital forecast and annual budgets.
- Developing and implementing operational efficiency and cost improvement plans.
- Evaluating, planning and relocation of targeted production to AMETEK’s regional low-cost manufacturing campuses.
- Developing annual operational and capital budgets.
- Develop, implement, and leverage a repeatable, disciplined system to implement best practice agreements, division-wide, focusing on total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, improved coordination, and risk management.
- Lead and facilitate Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of operational excellence, process optimization, and team collaboration across the organization.
- Developing and reporting operational KPIs.
- Develop and implement key initiatives to achieve material cost savings: LCR, SPI, VAVE, etc.
- Develop a division sourcing strategy and build appropriate low-cost sourcing capabilities to support ongoing cost targets of the business.
- Leading Divisional Operations reviews.
- Leading Operations due diligence and integrations activities for acquisitions.
- Participating in annual strategy, regional Operations reviews, and budget presentations to executive management.
- Partner with BU Operations to facilitate OPEX training activities and create an effective visual communication process across all sites in the division.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field or equivalent; MBA preferred
- At least 10 years of progressive experience, with at least 5 years in a direct leadership role, within Operations in an Electronics or Electromechanical manufacturing or similar environment. Overseeing diverse operational units in multiple locations is desired.
- Demonstrated success in relocation of operations to global low-cost areas is preferred.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to set vision and strategy for Operations.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to executives and managers.
- Knowledge of and experience in Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of Business System processes.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control systems.
- History of hiring, developing, growing, motivating, and mentoring Operations talent.
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially Excel, and experience working with MRP/ERP and internal software programs is required.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, domestic and international to engage with all sites in the division.
