We are actively hiring for a Division Vice President of Engineering which is the technical leadership position for the Haydon Kerk Pittman (HKP) Business Unit, at AMETEK, a S&P 500 company.

The Division Vice President of Engineering is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and execution of the engineering function. This role oversees product development, innovation, and technical excellence across the engineering teams, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs. The DVP of Engineering fosters a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business goals and market trends in motion control.
  • Lead the development of next-generation customized linear and rotary motion solutions.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define product roadmaps and technology investments to drive short and long-term sustainable and profitable growth.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and release.
  • Oversee the design and development of custom motion control products including but not limited to linear actuators, stepper motors, brush and brushless DC motors, gears and drive systems.
  • Ensure robust design practices and reliability engineering.
  • Drive innovation in custom motion control solutions through significantly enhancing the existing technology offerings and by introducing new to the business and new to the world motion solutions.

Team & Process Management

  • Build and mentor a high-performing engineering organization across multiple disciplines.
  • Implement best practices in Agile development, stage-gate processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and customer focus.

Customer & Market Alignment

  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Product Management to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
  • Support key customer engagements, technical presentations, and application engineering efforts so that Haydon Kerk Pittman is recognized as a thought leader and go-to partner for their motion control projects.
  • Monitor competitive technologies and industry trends to inform strategic decisions.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage engineering budgets, resource planning, and capital investments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee quality assurance, testing protocols, and product certifications.
  • Lead VE/VA initiatives and support Operations in the engineering evaluation of cross-site production moves.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (PhD preferred).
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in motion control, automation, or electromechanical systems.
  • Proven track record of delivering innovative and complex motion products to market.
  • Deep understanding of motor technologies (stepper, servo, BLDC), drive electronics, actuators, lead screws, encoders, gears and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of electronic and mechanical CAD based development as well as Software and embedded Firmware development.
  • Proven track record of developing high performing teams.
  • Strong leadership, excellent oral and written communication, mentoring and strategic thinking skills.
  • Fluent in English with multiple languages preferred.
  • Accustomed to leading global teams, multiple cultures and different time zones.

Salary Minimum:  $200,000
Salary Maximum:  $200,000 +
