Job Description: 

The Director, Business Development is responsible for driving growth amongst prospective and existing clients while diversifying into related industries.  This role owns all phases of business development by assessing market trends, collecting and synthesize appropriate customer VOC, developing product strategies and roadmaps, identifying new and existing growth targets in the segment and successfully driving internal resources in Product Management and Engineering to deliver innovative solutions.

 

To be successful, the Director, Business Development must be an excellent communicator and team builder in a global matrix environment within all areas of the business.  The position will be the internal and external leader for the strategic marketing, closely directing product line management, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and field sales to maximize growth in key market segments.   

 

What you will do:

 

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Manage and develop a global team
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global strategy to achieve business objectives and drive above-market growth.  Focus on market trend analysis and New Product Ideation (NPI).
  • Identify and monitor industry trends, market adjacencies, and M&A opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for sales channels optimization in support of business strategy by assessing and identifying markets and opportunities, developing business plans, and building new product roadmaps.
  • Manage New Product Development toll-gate processes and launch in collaboration with other departments.

Customer & Market:

  • Be the voice of the customer: gather and analyze customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop compelling business cases for identified opportunities, including market segmentation and product positioning.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to identify and prioritize new product opportunities.
  • Steer the product development process by translating customer needs and wants into product innovations

Marketing & Sales

  • Identify Key Targets
  • Create methodology to utilize digital marketing capabilities as lead generators
  • Partner with other departments to create long term strategic plans for chosen market segments and products.
  • Analyze pricing and competitive pressures, and collaborate on winning pricing strategies.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Operations, Finance) to ensure successful product development and launch.
  • Facilitate training for global channels in the USA, Europe, and South-East Asia on assigned product families.
  • Collaborate on BU strategic plans and reports to senior management.

 

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role; global leadership a plus
  • 3+ years' experience within a global manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years in a business development role for technical products
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated success and experience in the strategic leadership of marketing and business development
  • Culturally sensitive with the ability to inspire the trust of others, and the ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams
  • Strong financial management skills with proven ability to develop short-term and long-term business plans that deliver acceptable ROI
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (30% of the time)

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $140,000
Salary Maximum:  $190,000
Incentive:  Yes
