Job Description: 

 

The Electronics Test Technician is responsible for assembling small, precision mechanical assemblies in a low-volume production environment. This role performs troubleshooting and product testing, collaborates with engineering to improve product quality and performance, and supports the development of test procedures for both new and existing products.

 

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Troubleshooting

  • Use precision test equipment to test and troubleshoot circuit boards, including:
      • Oscilloscopes
      • Multimeters
      • Function generators
      • Data acquisition modules
      • Similar electronic test equipment
  • Perform product testing and support troubleshooting activities to resolve issues.

Manufacturing & Product Support

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to support new product releases and address production or test-related issues.
  • Read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Perform soldering and rework on assemblies as required.
  • Assist in improving product quality and performance through collaboration with engineering teams.

Training & Communication

  • Provide training on test procedures, equipment operation, and work instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments and stakeholders regarding production, testing, quality, and technical matters.
  • Apply strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills in day-to-day activities.

 

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or higher in an engineering discipline required.
  • A combination of formal technical training and related experience may be considered in lieu of an engineering-related degree.
  • Five or more years of related technical and/or industry experience with strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • Experience leading, participating in, or supporting training and mentoring activities preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing environment experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Ability to handle small components, tools, test equipment, and precision assemblies using hands and fingers.
  • Ability to visually inspect small parts, circuit boards, assemblies, and test results with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing, production, or laboratory environment where personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
