Job Title:  Quality Technician

AMETEK is seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Quality Technician who performs various quality tests of powdered metal and metal strip.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs tests at various stages within production for properties such as dimensions, performance, mechanical, electrical and chemical characteristics, and performs final inspection.
• Set up, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain precision laboratory equipment.
• Compile, interpret, and document test results using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and report findings.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (OSHA, SDS/MSDS) and ensure proper hazardous waste disposal per Ametek’s safety standard.
• Inputs test results into MRP system and makes all necessary changes for certification of material.
• Generates chemistry, thermal expansion and mechanical quality tests as required and performs analysis and recommendations as required.
• Maintains records and certification files for all incoming raw material.
• Perform necessary compliance testing to ensure final products meet the customer and or specification requirements.
• Accurately document and maintain the results of inspection and testing results.
• Collect data collection analyze problems to support problem solving activities to make recommendations for possible corrective actions.
• Utilizing the Quality Managements System and ISO9001 standards - conducts, leads and implements the appropriate process audits.
• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS:

• Able to complete intermediate computer functions and common software programs.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
• Ability to utilize advanced math.  
• Ability to use hand-held measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail required.
• Has the willingness to further their knowledge and ability in performing all quality related tests.
• Utilizing critical thinking skills in order to determine defect thresholds.
• Experience with ICP and XRF is highly desired.
• Familiarity with compressed gases such as argon, oxygen, helium, etc. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma
• 2+ years’ experience in metals testing preferred
• Associate degree in technical field preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Ability to sit for long durations of time.
• Ability to wear respirator for test procedures under fume hood.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, lab coat and hearing protection.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Required to work in a normal office environment with significant time spent in the production area.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The production area is not climate controlled.
