Job Title: 2nd + 3rd Shift Furnace Operator

Introduction:
As a furnance operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various production equipment including rolling, annealing, grinding, welding, slitting, flattening, leveling, packaging, and other miscellaneous equipment. There are multiple positions available for second shift (2pm-10pm flex) and third shift (10pm-6am). Second shift employees receive a differential of $1.00/hr and third shift employees receive a differential of $1.25/hr. All candidates must be able to train on first shift for the first four months and comply with the overtime mandate.
Responsibilities Section:
The furnance/annealing operator will:
- Operate a wide range of production equipment including rolling, annealing, grinding, welding, slitting, flattening, leveling, and packaging machinery.
- Adjust operating parameters to meet product specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with production equipment.
- Acquire necessary certifications to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Conduct quality checks using various measuring tools to ensure products meet internal and customer standards; submit samples for QC approval.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately.
- Provide training to other operators as required.
- Conduct safety checks and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Fulfill other assigned duties as necessary.

The furnance/annealing operator requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer functions for data entry purposes.
- Must be detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be able to work overtime.
- Able to fluently read/write english without assistance.
The furnance/annealing operator must also be able to do the following:
- Ability to repetitively walk, stand, bend, stoop, push/pull, lift, grasp/feel, see, talk, hear, and repetitive motions.
- Ability to work around metal powders and nickels.
- Ability to wear a respirator while conducting job duties.
- Ability to work around and on industrial equipment.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, scissor lift, front-end loader, payloader)
- Ability to ascend and descend steep stairs and ladders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
- Ability to work in a production area with usually moderate noise level. The production area is not climate controlled.
