The Shipping Supervisor manages the daily activities of shipping functions in a manufacturing facility. Implements procedures to improve quality, productivity and efficiency. Ensures shipments are delivered in a timely manner. Maintains relationships with carrier vendors and consistently resolves customer issues.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.  
  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities.  
  • Work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determines space requirements in inventory.
  • Determines routing and legal load limits on trucks.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Complies records of unfilled orders
  • Posts shipments and keeps record of shipments ready to go out the door.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to identify material types, grades, and processing requirements
  • Review and understand customer specifications and applicable industry standards
  • Evaluate customer purchase orders to determine appropriate process flow and manufacturing requirements
  • Defines processing and verification standards based on customer prints and specifications
  • Determines appropriate passivation and electropolishing methods in alignment with customer and industry standards
  • Reviews complex orders for manufacturability and internal routing accuracy
  • Supports real-time work order corrections and continuous process validation
  • Communicates directly with customers to clarify PO details, request missing documentation, and confirm processing requirements
  • Leads and manages shared customer communication channels, including status updates, PO revisions, and INCOTERM alignment
  • Responds to expedite requests and adjust priorities accordingly
  • Collaborates with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure alignment across functions
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives in shipping, order processing, and manufacturing workflows

 

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma required.  Post secondary education in technical or engieering fields a plus.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-6 Years

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and any other software needed
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and customer specifications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience or exposure to ERP systems preferred
  • Effective communication skills with both internal teams and external customers

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work performed in a production environment.  
  • Exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemical and other elements.  
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

Compensation

Employee Type:  Hourly
Salary Minimum:  $60,000
Salary Maximum:  $70,000
Incentive:  No
