Join the dynamic team at AMETEK Aerospace & Defense as we seek a driven and experienced Southern Mid-Atlantic Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to lead OEM sales initiatives across a strategically important territory. Covering North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee, the candidate will reside within the sales territory in a remote/home office.

This position offers a pivotal opportunity to lead both strategically and tactically, cultivating new business and expanding market presence across the Aerospace & Defense sectors. Reporting at the division level, you will drive sales initiatives targeting key Tier 1 and sub‑tier customers across six business units, playing a central role in accelerating growth and market penetration.

This position reports directly to the Director of Sales – Aerospace & Defense, Americas.

 

Key Responsibilities

Accelerate Growth

As the cornerstone of this role, you will develop and execute strategies to meet and exceed growth objectives:

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships for incremental growth.
  • Capitalize on second‑source and displacement opportunities to competitively position AMETEK solutions and increase market share.

 

Maximize Sales Impact

You will be accountable for achieving territory order intake and life‑of‑program win objectives through disciplined execution:

  • Operate effectively within the aerospace and defense market, including commercial aviation, navigating complex customer environments to capture opportunity.
  • Apply a structured, process‑driven approach to manage sophisticated, high‑value sales pipelines.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with key strategic customers, fostering long‑term partnerships and repeat business.

 

Product Development Collaboration

  • Partner closely with customers and internal teams—including engineering and senior leadership—to influence product development roadmaps aligned with customer needs.
  • Contribute to competitive differentiation by ensuring offerings support evolving market demands and long‑term share growth.

 

Requirements for Consideration

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering or other technical degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in sales and/or marketing within the Aerospace and/or Defense sectors required
  • Demonstrated track record of sales success, including the ability to influence decision‑makers, develop customer relationships, and secure new business wins
  • Experience developing and executing regional sales strategies, including ownership of opportunity funnels and accurate forecasting against growth and order targets
  • Working knowledge of military, defense, and mission‑critical customer environments, including long sales cycles, program lifecycle management, and competitive displacement opportunities
  • Strong proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office, with the ability to perform robust sales forecasting, territory analysis, and business planning
  • Experience managing or influencing channel partners, distributors, or indirect sales relationships to ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel up to 50% to support customers and business objectives
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work from a remote/home office, while residing within the assigned territory (NC, SC, GA, VA, MD, KY, WV, or TN)
  • Ability to pass a background check and 9-panel drug screen
  • Due to the nature of AMETEK Aerospace & Defense programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States and be authorized to access export‑controlled information and source code
