Job Description: 

United Electronic Industries (UEI) is seeking a technically curious, highly motivated Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support and grow our business across Europe. This role combines technical applications expertise, sales support, and hands-on calibration services.


The FAE will serve as a key technical resource for customers and the sales team across the region and will operate and maintain UEI’s calibration station located in Italy. This role will engage customers in complex technical challenges, support the sales process, and perform calibration and service work in a laboratory environment. This position reports to the Director of Sales and Business Development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support customers across Europe in the design, development, deployment, and debugging of applications using UEI hardware and software.
  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support via phone, email, virtual meetings, and on-site visits as needed.
  • Perform system-level troubleshooting involving hardware, software, and embedded systems.
  • Execute customer application analysis, prototyping, testing, and debugging to deliver effective solutions.
  • Conduct software testing, code reviews, and validation activities for both customer and internal systems.
  • Act as a technical bridge between customers, sales, and R&D; communicate customer requirements and recommend product or feature enhancements.
  • Support and deliver customer training sessions (remote and on-site) on UEI products and applications.
  • Partner closely with the European sales team to support opportunity development from initial engagement through close.
  • Qualify technical requirements and recommend appropriate UEI hardware and software solutions.
  • Assist with solution positioning, technical presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Prepare and support quotations and technical documentation as part of the sales process.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of customer activities, opportunities, and pipeline status in the CRM system.
  • Participate in sales meetings, strategy reviews, and regional planning discussions.
  • Represent UEI at trade shows, customer events, and industry conferences as required.
  • Operate and support UEI’s European calibration station based in Milan, Italy.
  • Perform calibration, verification, and functional testing of UEI products in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Maintain calibration records, documentation, and compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate calibration scheduling with sales, service, and customers across Europe.
  • Maintain calibration equipment and ensure a safe, organized, and compliant lab environment.
  • Serve as regional point of contact for calibration-related technical questions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Computer Science or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience. 
  • 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Applications Engineer, Field Applications Engineer, Sales Engineer, or similar. 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with calibration, electronic test equipment, or service laboratory operations. 
  • Experience in data acquisition (DAQ), embedded control, test & measurement, or related systems.
  • Travel: ~30% throughout Europe
  • Language: Fluent English (additional languages a plus)


Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in aerospace, space, and/or defense industry.
  • Proficiency working with both hardware and software in customer-driven environments.
  • Experience in C / C++ and PC-based development environments.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW and / or other DAQ and control software environments. 
  • Experience with embedded systems (e.g. Linux-based systems, real-time operating systems).
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and structured sales processes.
