The Division Vice President of Finance is an operational business partner to the Divisional VP/General Manager. He/she will lead the financial reporting and assist in driving financial results throughout the division. This includes optimizing working capital and managing SOX compliance through strong controls. The DVP will also lead the Division’s Information Technology activities.
This position reports directly to the Vice President/General Manager and has dotted line oversight of the Business Unit Controllers within the division.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Ensure that divisional financials are accurate and that all reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and all other key deadlines are met (e.g., 4- to 5-day close cycle and meeting deadlines before presentations to division and executive leadership).
- Identify positive and negative trends, with sufficient depth of underlying detail to have confidence in conclusions and suggested next steps.
- Achieve 95% forecast accuracy. Determine whether a miss in forecast can be made up in subsequent months or whether more comprehensive action should be taken.
- Work proactively and collaboratively with the following constituents to determine how business actions affect the financials, and to identify ways to changes those actions to drive financial performance:

- Operations – help in managing and reducing inventory levels and in looking at the overall production process in order to optimize working capital.
- Engineering – work on the budgeting process and implementing better timekeeping such that the business can allocate engineering costs more accurately within the business. Ensure the team meets cost and schedule requirements.
- Sales – help the sales team think through pricing and commercial terms to ensure contracts are achieving maximum profitability and the most favorable terms.
- Establish and monitor Division accounting policies, programs and methods applicable to cost and inventory accounting and ensure that proper standard costs and inventory systems are maintained by plant accounting personnel.
- Perform financial due diligence on possible acquisition, divestiture, and/or merger opportunities. Develop models, business forecasts and trend analysis to support these opportunities.
- Be a strong role model of AMETEK’s values and provide broad leadership across the organization. Develop skills sets of BU Controllers and participate in succession planning and talent upgrading activities.
Experience and Education:
- Minimum of (12) twelve years relevant business accounting/finance experience; at least 2 years in a financial leadership role as an operational business partner
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related major. Master’s degree and/or CPA would be a plus.
- Experience working in an industrial manufacturing organization with a high mix, low volume product line
- Knowledge of international operations and foreign currencies
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic direction and guidance as a trusted business partner
- Proven history of developing solid business relationships at all levels within the organization
- Must possess strong communication/presentation skills; ability to confidently communicate good/bad news in a timely manner in addition to suggested solutions
- Above all, must be highly ethical with unquestionable integrity
