Job Description: 

Position Summary:

  • Ametek MRO is looking for a strong CMM Operator/Programmer/Quality Control Specialist to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to support the Aviation MRO and new OEM manufacturing processes. This individual will be responsible for conformance inspection activities and be the designated Quality Department focal supporting the new OEM manufactured products.

  • This position will serve as the coordinator between Quality department and other departments, on issues related to the production of the new OEM products, liaising with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain personnel and may facilitate the flow down of contractual requirements related to Quality, throughout the organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Operation of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) - Prior experience required. Zeiss and Calypso experience preferred.

  • Performance of visual inspection, including configuration, workmanship, dimensions, welds, coatings, material and process certifications, etc.

  • Liaise with fellow Quality personnel to support inspection program

  • Communicate status with fellow team members.

  • Participates in root cause, corrective and preventive action program

  • Reviews design, manufacturing, and testing documentation. 

  • Reads and interprets drawings featuring Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), engineering orders, and specifications.

  • Coordinates and performs inspections of raw materials and finished products, applying appropriate quality assurance testing models. 

  • Offers technical guidance and support in response to quality testing and analysis. 

  • Ensures contract compliance by reviewing and approving quality requirements for supplier purchase orders, manufacturing, and other related services.

  • Participate in MRB activity for designated product lines; provide guidance with customer MRB requirements and assist in corrective action.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Quality and/or Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted

 

Experience:

  • Experience in basic and advanced inspection techniques using various inspection tools and methodologies

  • Minimum 5 years as a Quality Control in a manufacturing environment

  • Aerospace/aviation experience (preferred)

  • Extra consideration given for the following experience:

  • AS9102 First Article experience

  • Experience in the programming and operation of CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment, including software

  • Weld inspection

  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing 

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the programming and operation of CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment, including software (preferred)

  • Proficient with a variety of hand measurement tools including height gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, etc.

  • Experience with GD&T, blue-prints, and engineering drawings.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft, Excel, Quality Management Systems, etc.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and effectively relate to all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.

  • Uses equipment and materials properly.

  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions.

 

Typical Working Conditions:

  • Work will be conducted mostly indoors in a “shop” type environment.

  • Exposure to heat or cold will mostly be limited to when walking from one building to another or if bay doors have been opened to allow for shipping and receiving activities. The use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety toed shoes are required in designated working areas.
