Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated mechanical engineer to lead the development of mechanical products from concept through execution. The ideal candidate will assume full responsibility for project activities including costing, scheduling, design, analysis, and engineering documentation. This role requires strong technical competence in structural analysis and machine elements, along with demonstrated leadership potential and a collaborative mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical product development projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Perform detailed design and selection of machine elements for precision drive mechanisms (e.g., bearings, gearboxes, encoders, servomotors).
  • Conduct structural, static, dynamic, and thermal analyses using classical strength of materials principles.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability and integration, particularly in positioning systems.
  • Apply knowledge of aluminum and steel weldment design practices with attention to human safety factors.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate regularly with key customers.
  • Support product safety certification processes, including CE marking.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and organizational skills.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in mechanical engineering (Required).
  • 6-8 years of applicable experience
  • 3D Computer Aided Design of complex mechanical systems, SolidWorks Preferred
  • Generate detailed drawings per ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Weldment design and drawing per AWS D1.1, D1.2 or similar standards
  • Knowledge of finite element structural analysis, including calculations of stresses, safety margins, buckling margins, and modal analysis.
  • Design of machine elements (Bearing, Fastener, Gearbox, Motor, Gears, etc.)
  • Design of machines to optimize closed loop servo performance
  • Demonstrate understanding of classical static and strength of materials
  • Understanding of precision machine shop and welding practices
  • Track record of complex product and system development
  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Due to the nature of NSI-MI Technologies’ programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.
  • This role may require up to 30% travel, both domestically and internationally.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Product and complex system development experience
  • Machine design, hands on machine assembly and onsite machine installation experience

Compensation

Employee Type:  Salaried
Salary Minimum:  $110,000
Salary Maximum:  $135,000
Incentive:  1289
