Job Summary:
The Field Service Engineer – RF is a key member of the customer support team and will travel to customer sites to perform services. These services include calibration and repair of NSI-MI equipment. He/she reports to the Field Services Manager. The Field Service Engineer must demonstrate strong technical skills, excellent communication, time management, planning, and organizational skills. As much of the work will take place independently at customer facilities, the candidate must be able to think and work independently with little direction and be able to improvise with a limited set of available resources.
He/she will be an ambassador of NSI-MI Technologies and will need to develop good working relationships with customers and always strive to ensure that they are satisfied with the Company’s products and services. It is also important that the Field Service Engineer help identify potential new business opportunities including equipment upgrades, training and other products and services.
The ideal candidate will have work experience with RF systems or components, demonstrate good working knowledge of RF test equipment, and have familiarity with working and troubleshooting electrical equipment. If you do not have hands-on experience using RF instrumentation such as vector network analyzers manually (not automated test equipment), this job may not be for you. Knowledge of controls of servo motor-based mechanical positioners, robotics is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support customer test/production facilities on regularly scheduled or as-required basis for calibrations other services
- Perform calibration of RF instrumentation at customer facilities using a network analyzer
- Provide professional responses in a timely manner to all customers
- Exhibit excellent diagnostic abilities to isolate issues and repair equipment
- Ability to analyze diverse requirements in RF/Microwave measurements with a good understanding of mechanical systems
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop solutions
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic hardware and software
- Prepare and comprehensive Field Service Reports, Calibration Certificates, and other documentation in a timely manner
- Manage time and priorities so that tasks are completed on or ahead of schedule
- Develop outstanding relationships with Company’s customers to enhance future business opportunities
- Ensure that customers are aware of Company’s new products (hardware and software) to support system upgrades
- Support the customer in every way possible to keep their test systems and ranges operating in the manner required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- This position will require extensive domestic and international travel
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to work and troubleshoot independently with minimum supervision
- 5+ years of directly applicable industry experience
- Tactfully handle difficult situations and maintain composure under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Troubleshooting system level electronic systems
- Ability to read schematic diagrams and engineering drawings
- Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software (Windows-based)
- Additional requirements include ability to:
- Drive company vehicle
- Pack and ship test equipment
- Perform some lifting
Desired Qualifications:
- Performing bench level measurements of RF Active and Passive Components such as: LNA, Amplifiers, Couplers, Power Dividers, Limiters, Mixers, Frequency Multipliers, Diplexers, and Filters
- Strong background in RF systems such as radar, satellite, or telecom
- Experience with servo motors and control systems
- Programming skills (C, C#, python, or similar)
- Experience with terrestrial radar system
