POSITION SUMMARY

NSI-MI Technologies, a Business Unit (BU) of AMETEK, Inc, is seeking a Division Vice President (DVP) / Business Manager to lead the Far-Field (FF) Systems business.  The FF Systems Business Manager will provide strategic and tactical leadership to the far-field systems portfolio, which provides indoor / outdoor FF test systems and compact range solutions to customers around the globe.

The FF Systems Business Manager will report to the NSI-MI BU Manager.  The position will be based in Suwanee, GA, and will oversee a geographically dispersed team located in Suwanee and Torrance, CA.  The Business Manager will occasionally interface with FF customers and internal team members located in Europe and Asia as well.

In addition to being responsible for the profit and loss of the FF Systems business, this position will help develop and implement the NSI-MI Business Unit’s Strategic Plan with an emphasis on AMETEK’s four-pronged growth strategy promoting operational excellence, strategic acquisitions, global & market expansion, and new products.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  • Achieve Budget/Sales Growth – Drive year/year double digit growth, top line and bottom line
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of FF products, programs, and services
  • Attract, retain, grow, and oversee a qualified cadre of Program Managers responsible for programs and projects within the FF systems portfolio
  • Provide the long-term vision for the FF business
  • Proactively engage customers and build and manage strategic partnerships
  • Leverage personal knowledge of Aerospace and Defense
  • Work closely with the NSI-MI sales team and use a hands-on approach to bring in new business
  • Foster an environment of inclusiveness, trust, and accountability

New Product Development/Introduction (NPD / NPI):

Partner with the NSI-MI BU Manager and peer leaders to accelerate NPD/NPI to ensure that all sites prioritize the development of new products.  

 

Operational Excellence: 

The Business Manager, in collaboration with peer leaders, will drive improved performance through the implementation of action plans and the deployment of lean and visual principles to develop action plans to meet/exceed budget in working capital, turnaround time, profit, customer satisfaction and other key elements to ensure operational excellence such as on-time delivery (OTD).

 

Talent Management:

Increase the understanding, collaboration, and alignment within management teams by developing a sound organizational structure and process. Build bench strength and implement succession planning. Partner with peer leaders and the NSI-MI BU Manager to ensure that all employees and personnel have the necessary training and development to accomplish the demands and expectations of the business, simultaneously upgrading, evaluating, and developing talent.

 

Financial and Program Management: 

Manage overall profit and loss and program management oversight for the FF Systems business to achieve assigned cost, schedule, and technical goals.  This will include:

  • Strong management that ensures that budgeted goals are achieved, delivery (schedule) commitments are met, and technical / quality requirements are met or exceeded
  • Establishing accountability for the business and providing the resources necessary to grow and/or taking the necessary actions to ensure business commitments are met.
  • Developing plans, strategies, and tactics based on sound financial analysis and program management techniques
  • Collaborating with NSI-MI leadership team to develop annual budgets that meet the required yearly goals.
  • Participating in financial and program reporting requirements, which will include weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on sales, profit, working capital, wins and losses, strategy, etc.

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required; bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline is strongly preferred.

Master’s Degree or MBA preferred

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of progressive business management and program management experience and record of sales and profitability growth achievement with a strong focus on aerospace and defense systems.
  • Experience managing a business or portfolio of programs with revenues of at least $25M is highly preferred.
  • Experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, facility project management, and system test & validation within the aerospace & defense sector or an adjacent RF-related industry is ideal
  • Sales and/or marketing experience in aerospace would be a plus.
  • Multi-site leadership experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills driving change such as improving organizational effectiveness, performance management and changing the business model in response to changing market conditions.
  • P&L management experience to include knowledge and management capability in Sales/EBITDA, Cash Management, Inventory Control, and Budget is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen. Knows how to accurately read financial reports and respond to the underlying operational issues.
  • Experience working for a publicly traded company that has continuous pressure to lower costs while improving performance is a plus.
  • Must have the ability to foster, formulate, and execute business strategies that deliver profitable growth.
  • Must have proven strategic planning skills; conducted competitive analysis, developed marketing plans, and pricing strategies.
  • Proven track record successfully managing operations to achieve bottom line profitability through sustainable operational excellence to include lean manufacturing, process management, program management, and personnel development.
  • Able to effectively build and manage strong customer relationships in an industry where competition is strong, and results are achieved through operational and quality excellence.

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $200,000 +
Salary Maximum:  $200,000 +
