Overview:

NSI-MI Technologies’ Buyer is a diverse position covering the planning, purchasing, supplier development and tracking of workflow from the engineering department through the purchasing for the support of the manufacturing departments. The primary role of this position is to plan and procure materials for the in-plant production fabrication of precision machinery in a low volume, high technology, high variation product mix produced in a project driven build-to-order production working environment.

                    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following and other duties as assigned.

  • Function as the focal point in the procurement of raw materials and subcontract of services for the support of operations and field operations support.

  • Interface with engineers, production, and project managers on a daily basis to be familiar with the status of all parts and services for the different projects.

  • Works closely with suppliers to ensure on time delivery of parts and to answer questions related to engineering drawings or RFQ packages.

  • Monitor quality, service, and delivery issues, and take corrective actions as needed.

  • Understand technical systems/drawings and manages critical questions from Suppliers and engages necessary cross functional teams to address questions.

  • Stay current and familiar with the status of all parts for the different projects while balancing conflicting demands and limited resources.

  • Respond to assigned purchasing needs to obtain competitive quotations, select and qualify vendors, and manage the performance of those vendors

  • Source and qualify new vendors, especially for critical fabrication and specialized components.

  • Present part status updates on regular basis for the support of project timelines and mitigates risks accordingly.

  • Place purchase orders for MRO buying and other production material. Maintain and develop reporting documentation on status of Purchase Orders and Inventory.

  • Monitor material and supply inventories through ERP/MRP.

 

This position may require occasional domestic and international travel.

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience with engineered to order products, especially precision machinery, subcontracting of services and mechanical components.

  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and related fabrication processes, as well as a solid knowledge of electromechanical components

  • Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and specifications.

  • In-depth ERP/MRP knowledge is required, APICS/ASCM is a plus.

  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.

  • Ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.

  • Competent with computer software such as Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project).

  • Experience working within an ISO quality plan a plus.

 

 

Experience Level:            2+ years experience in Manufacturing / Build-To-Order environment.

Education Level:                                                         Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management or Manufacturing (Desired)
