Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking co-op student to drive hands-on projects that help implement AI best practices across our organization. This role is ideal for someone passionate about artificial intelligence, operational excellence, and solving real business problems with practical, scalable solutions.

 

The AI Automation Co‑Op will support NSI‑MI’s digital transformation and operational excellence initiatives by designing, developing, and deploying practical AI‑driven automation solutions. This role spans three academic semesters, allowing the co‑op to build deep business context, progressively increase responsibility, and deliver measurable impact. The co‑op will collaborate with engineering, operations, IT, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities where artificial intelligence and automation can improve efficiency, quality, and decision‑making.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead an end-to-end‑ project focused on implementing an AI best practice (e.g., workflow enhancement, responsible AI controls, data governance improvements, automation opportunities)
  • Design, build, and test automation solutions using AI, machine learning, and workflow technologies
  • Develop prototypes, process maps, scripts, and proof‑of‑concept solutions that can scale into production environments
  • Document solutions, workflows, and technical designs to support knowledge transfer and sustainability
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Monitor performance of deployed automations and recommend enhancements or optimizations
  • Build internal tools to support engineering and test workflows through automating routine RF test report generation as well as building scripts that extract, clean or classify measurement data
  • Develop models or tools to support lifecycle maintenance by predicting when systems may be in need of repair
  • Create tools for knowledge discovery and documentation search to support design and implementation of new systems
  • Stay current with emerging AI tools, platforms, and best practices and share insights with the team

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Ability to commit to three academic semesters as part of a structured co‑op program
  • Coursework or hands‑on experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, or data analytics
  • Experience with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, SQL, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Due to the nature of NSI‑MI Technologies’ programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export‑controlled information and source code

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with automation platforms, low‑code/no‑code tools, or RPA solutions
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, APIs, or data visualization tools
  • Interest in applying AI to real‑world operational and manufacturing environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating in a team‑oriented environment
  • Passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence

Compensation

Employee Type:  Hourly
Salary Minimum:  $50,000
Salary Maximum:  $70,000
