Job Description: 

Scope of Role:

  • To support the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electro-mechanical systems and components
  • To inspect and test finished products to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Set up and operate test equipment and mechanical fixtures.
  • Document test results, anomalies, and corrective actions in accordance with quality standards.

 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • To perform functional, environmental, and performance testing on electro-mechanical assemblies and systems.
  • Set up and operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and mechanical fixtures.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and test procedures to ensure accurate test execution.
  • Document test results, anomalies, and corrective actions in accordance with quality standards.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and troubleshooting of failed units.
  • Support engineering teams in prototype testing and validation.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to testing processes and documentation.
  • Provide any information or help required to customers, suppliers and visitors from other companies within our group of companies who often tour the factory floors, and may well take the opportunity to examine parts, talk to staff or watch them carry out their work. Therefore, the ideal candidate should be able to communicate at all levels.
  • Participate in any Continuous Improvement and 5S activities that affects the quality or output of the product.
  • Where PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided, you will be required to use it.
  • Carry out all activities as defined above in a timely manner to ensure the company manufacturing targets are achieved.
  • You will be required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to, training colleagues in line with local skills matrix, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.


Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions:

  • Undertake training that is identified as a requirement of the role as identified by the role Manager.
  • Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
  • At times of reduced department staff attendance there will be a need to be flexible and provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction.


Professional Knowledge & Experience:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a test technician or similar role.
  • Proficiency in using electrical and mechanical test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and quality standards (e.g., ISO, IPC, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
  • Able to read and understand drawings and or CMMs and or SOP’s
  • Able to read, write and understand English.
