Scope of Role:
AMETEK Airtechnology seeks a Senior Programme Manager to deliver development, production and aftermarket projects On Time In Full (OTIF). This role with have responsibility for the complete lifecycle management of our product portfolios. The Senior Programme Manager will be responsible for the successful execution and delivery of complex aerospace and defence programmes, ensuring they meet customer requirements, budget constraints, and strategic business objectives. This role will require strong leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial acumen to drive programme success and customer satisfaction. The Senior Programme Manager will work closely with the Programmes and Customer Services Director, along with the AMETEK senior leadership team, to support business growth and continuous improvement.
The Snr PM will lead the project management team and accountable for delivering both development, production and aftermarket initiatives On Time In Full of 95% or above and forecast accuracy of +/- 5%.
Main Duties/Responsibilities
- Programme Management & Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end execution of major programmes, ensuring alignment with contractual, financial, and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain programme plans, schedules, and risk management strategies.
- Drive on-time delivery, cost control, and quality assurance across all programme phases.
- Lead programme reviews, reporting on progress, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership and customers.
- Define the project/programme management strategy and approach appropriate to each project, whilst adhering to guidelines and standards.
- Oversee the delivery of the project/programme portfolio on a daily basis with regard to cost, risk and schedule. (both engineering / NPI and production projects).
- Handle escalated customer complaints through to completion.
- Oversee the management of project/programme issues and risks, as well as quality and scope deviations, mitigate or escalate as necessary.
- Manage the resource profile to meet the needs of the business and performance manage as necessary
- Act as the escalation point of contact for key customers, fostering strong relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction – for strategic and key projects.
- Work closely with internal teams—including business development, engineering, supply chain, operations, and finance—to ensure seamless programme execution.
- Negotiate and manage programme scope, contracts, and change requests in collaboration with commercial teams.
Leadership & Team Development
- Line management responsibility for the project management and delivery of the project portfolios.
- Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional programme teams.
- Mentor and develop project team members.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
Financial & Commercial Acumen
- Manage programme budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring profitability.
- Support business development activities, including bid management, proposals, and contract negotiations.
- Identify opportunities for growth within existing and new programmes.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in programme management within the aerospace, defence, or engineering sectors. (Minimum 5 years)
- Strong understanding of programme lifecycle management, contract management, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience managing complex customer relationships and multi-functional teams.
- Financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
- Knowledge of AS9100, aerospace standards, and regulatory requirements is desirable.
- Proficiency in programme management tools (e.g., MS Project); including risk management.
- Project management qualifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, APM) are required.
Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions
- Undertake training that is identified as a requirement of the role as identified by the role Manager.
- Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
- At times of reduced department staff attendance there will be a need to be flexible and provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction.
- On occasion you may be required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to training, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.
