Job Description: 

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for all accounts payable and related tasks. This role requires a high level of accuracy and requires communication with vendors and internal departments, while striving to streamline the accounts payable process. This role requires compliance with company policies, local statutory reporting and US public company reporting, including internal control requirements under Sarbanes Oxley.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Processing all vendor invoices including invoice entry and processing payments and filing completed approved payment packages. Includes verification of data and data entry in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Obtaining approvals for invoice payment and payment runs in accordance with company policies.
  • Review and reconcile vendor statements.
  • Handling of all vendors and internal departments payment related requests and concerns on a timely basis with ability to resolve questions and disputes.
  • Use of banking software to set up payments, create new templates and resolve exceptions.
  • Vendor data maintenance including setting up new vendors and monitoring HST registration.
  • Processing corporate credit card accounts.
  • Working with internal departments to provide accounting assignment and reporting for purchases.
  • Month end general ledger reconciliation for all accounts relating to AP, accrual liabilities and other related or assigned accounts.
  • Continuous improvement to streamline the accounts payable process.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal control requirements.
  • Support for internal and external audit requests.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an AP role and basic knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
  • Ability to use Windows applications including Word, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with ERP systems. Experience with Epicor is an asset.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to handle large volumes of transactions, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and strong team player with a commitment to providing exceptional internal and external customer service.
