Job Summary

 

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the start-up, testing, preventive maintenance, and repair of OEM industrial UPS systems at client sites. Position requires air travel, on-call status, strong AC/DC power electronics and customer skills.

 

Regional Travel; most travel will be driving a company truck to client sites; 5-10 over-night stays may be expected per month depending on workload. Some air travel may be required when other regions require help or where driving to site in the Gulf Coast states takes more than 5 hours.

 

The right candidate will need to maintain a company vehicle and company tools, including an oscilloscope, multi-meters and thermal imaging device.

 

Responsibilities include performing start-up, testing, preventive maintenance, and repair services of Ferro resonant and PWM power inverters, phase-controlled rectifiers, phase conditioners and voltage regulators, static transfer switches, and large storage batteries at client sites. This will be equipment built by the OEM and all documentation including drawings and manuals will be available.

 

This successful candidate for this position would preferably be located in Louisiana, although applicants from the Houston and Beaumont area will also be considered. Primary travel would be within the Gulf Coast Region of the US (including some offshore assignments) with secondary travel to other portions of the US as needed.  Limited travel to international sites may be required.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Requires an Associate of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology with 3 years of experience preferred or Military equivalence and 3 years of experience in a similar field preferred.

Experience using Oscilloscopes, and Multi-meters, is a requirement and computer literacy is essential.

Must be willing to travel and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Must have effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Need to multitask, and be capable of managing complex projects.

Strong AC/DC Power electronics and application skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is beneficial.

Establish, promote, and maintain excellent relationships with clients, co-workers, sales representatives, and others as appropriate.

Timely and accurate completion of paperwork including Field Service Reports, timesheets, and expense reports is essential. This is aided by our state-of-the-art software packages allowing reports to be completed on iPad, phone or PC - offline or online.

6 weeks of classroom and lab training will be provided at our state of the art training center in Stafford, TX.

 

Physical Requirements

 

Medium work:  Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Stooping:  Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.  This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
