Job Title: Chief Inspector

The Chief Inspector will lead, direct and work with the inspectors to oversee the induction, teardown, assembly, test and return to service of the articles processed at Ametek. The MRO Quality Assurance Chief Inspector represents the company for all FAA, customer and government surveys, audits and overall MRO RSQCM quality performance. This includes but is not limited to inspection of AMETEK products repaired and overhauled for private sector use to ensure compliance with all contract specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that all articles that are processed meet all customer requirements with respect to the data used to process the unit and is airworthy and acceptable for return to service.
- Determine that, if the customer’s work scope is limited in nature, the requested maintenance, preventive maintenance or alteration can be accomplished within the applicable data despite any other damage or discrepancies noted.
- Perform incoming, hidden damage, preliminary, in-process, and final inspections are in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Repair Station Manual (RSM).
- Ensure inspectors and technicians have the appropriate technical data available during the performance of maintenance, preventive maintenance and alteration activities.
- Ensure that 14 CFR Parts 121, 125, 129 and 135 customer requirements are obtained, made available and followed by inspection personnel.
- Review final record packages for accuracy and completion prior to issuing the final return to service.
- Final authority in the releasing for return to service of all appliances, and components thereof which have been maintained, overhauled, repaired, or tested at the repair station.
- Be capable to verify ADs, Service Bulletins as required.
- On a daily base, perform random audits on work benches, chemicals, tagging, tooling and preservation of articles while sitting on incoming shelves waiting to be quoted or inspected.
- On a daily base, ensure that preliminary, hidden and damage, in-process inspections are thoroughly and correctly annotated on the appropriate forms.
- Ensure all rejected material (Scrap/BER) is returned to the customer, as directed by RO.
- Be available to assist the Quality Assurance department in preparation for facility audits.
- Determine that no defective, unserviceable, or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component or articles released by AMETEK MRO Florida repair station.
- Maintain a current record of inspections and tests accomplished on all inspection tools, & precision test equipment including RTS.
- Ensures that all maintenance and alterations performed by this repair station are in accordance with the Ratings and Operations Specifications of the FAA 145 repair station.
- Ensures that all housing, facilities, equipment, materials and data meet the applicable requirements for the certificate and ratings of the Repair Station.
- Ensures all personnel and inspectors are thoroughly familiar with the inspection methods, techniques, aids, tools and equipment used within their assigned area of responsibility.
- Perform monthly audits to ensure records/certs of all calibrations and rosters are current and accessible.
- Reports any identified risks associated with the repair station to the Production Director and Quality Manager.
- Communicates as needed with internal & external customers and the FAA as required.
- Assist the Director of Quality in reviewing the repair station’s training program to ensure all the repair station’s training needs are met.
- Ensure appropriate calibrations and checks are made on the tools and equipment used by the repair station (including technician’s personal tools, if applicable) and the calibrations are performed in accordance with the standards and procedures described in this manual. Ensure records of all calibrations and checks are kept current (Quality Manager has back up responsibility in the absence of the Chief Inspector) and storage into the company servicer is accomplished.
- The Chief Inspector may delegate duties and responsibilities to any qualified personnel. Delegation of duties does not relieve the Chief Inspector of his overall responsibility under this manual or the FAR’s.

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Current Repairmen’s certificate or have held Repairman certificate in past. Airframe & Powerplant certificate preferred.
Experience:
- Aviation background and at least 5 years of experience at an airline or MRO and at least 3 years of inspection experience and will have held at least a repairman’s certificate.
