Job Summary:

Overall responsibilities include supporting Sales with the definition, development and maintenance of System solutions. As part of the scope of this position this person will handle the R&D and costing of Systems that perform to customer and Ametek expectations.  Manages the project from cradle to grave and meets the time schedule. Also, identifies risks items and mitigation plan. Actively participates in regional and global standards committees to promote Ametek interests.  Collaborates with other departments to achieve project goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management

System Project Manager has heavy PROJECT management responsibilities to secure successful design and maintenance of product.  

a)   Divide project work into measurable milestones.

b)   Initiate and conduct reviews of project milestones.

c)   Oversee text of documents and work of engineers, designers, drafters, production, test and others.

e)   Ensure successful completion of project milestones within the allocated time and budget.

  1. Documentation
    1. Establish specifications and standards required for system development and satisfies customer expectations
    2. Prepare technical reports for use by engineering or management personnel for long and short-range planning, or for use by sales engineering personnel in sales or technical services activities.
    3. Specify components used in new designs.
    4. Prepare specifications for vendor components.
    5. Submit risk assessment and mitigation plan.
  2. Interaction with Sales, Marketing and the Customer 
    1. Be aware of user requirements for products by working with Sales and marketing. 
    2. Provide cost information that is validated by Finance. Sales will price the project.
    3. Assist Marketing in creating application notes and the formulation of technical arguments used in marketing the products.
    4. Assist Sales and Marketing with competitive analysis to ensure a proper fit for the systems in the identified market niche.
    5. Deal with customers, vendors, suppliers and others in a positive and tactful manner.
    6. Orient and train Sales & Marketing and customers in the technical aspects of new systems.
    7. Willingness to travel to customer sites for pre- and post-sales efforts including installation, commissioning and sign-off of systems.
  3. Interaction with Production
    1. Design all procedures, documentation, special tools, test fixtures and test software required during production of the systems.
    2. Orient and train Assembly and Test to the technical aspects of new systems.
  4. Interaction with Customer Service
    1. Design all procedures, documentation, special tools, test fixtures and test software required during maintenance and troubleshooting of the systems.
    2. Orient Customer Service to the technical aspects of new products (systems).
    3. Ensure that the product is designed for maintainability by involving Customer Service during the development phase.
  5. Interaction with Purchasing and Incoming Inspection
    1. Assist Purchasing in sourcing components related to the systems, including vendor evaluation.
    2. Create all procedures, documentation, special tools, test fixtures and test software required during incoming inspection of components.
    3. Orient Purchasing and Incoming Inspection to the technical aspects of new systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university and eight years RF experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least two years of System solution design, development, and delivery experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of EMC standards.
  • Travel to customer sites for pre- and post-sales efforts including installation, commissioning and sign-off of systems
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Utilize CRM to monitor Systems sales efforts and provide reports to management as requested
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and schematic drawings
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office programs and required D365 modules such as Projects, BOMs, prototypes, etc
