Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for overseeing and driving quality initiatives across the organization to meet customer expectations, company standards, and legal requirements. This role ensures compliance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements through leadership in inspection processes, audits, and continuous improvement activities. The QA Lead will mentor team members, collaborate cross-functionally, and serve as a key partner to the Production Manager in implementing best practices and resolving quality challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and coordinate quality assurance activities across receiving, in-process, and final inspection stages.
- Provide guidance and training to quality inspectors and production staff on quality standards and procedures.
- Act as a subject matter expert for quality systems and compliance requirements.
- Define objectives and performance metrics.
- Create and/or maintain Quality Management System (QMS).
Quality Control & Inspection
- Oversee inspections of materials, components, and finished products using standard measuring equipment.
- Ensure inspection devices are properly calibrated and maintained.
- Validate adherence to inspection protocols and quality procedures.
Nonconformance & Corrective Action Management
- Identify discrepancies.
- Manage nonconforming material processes, including MRB activities and timely resolution of issues.
- Initiate, track, and close Corrective Action Requests (CARs) while driving root cause analysis and preventive measures.
Auditing & Compliance
- Plan and conduct internal audits to assess compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
- Support external audits and certification processes.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Utilize ERP systems to extract data and generate quality performance reports.
- Prepare inspection summaries, quality metrics, and trend analyses for management review.
- Recommend process improvements based on data-driven insights.
Continuous Improvement
- Champion initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement best practices.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification preferred; high school diploma required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years in quality assurance or inspection, with at least 2 years in leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of technical drawings, specifications, and standard measuring tools.
- Experience managing MRB processes and corrective actions.
- Internal Auditor Certification (ISO 9001 or similar) preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, and use hand tools as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly; assistance required for heavier loads.
