Position Summary:

The Production Manager oversees the planning, scheduling, manufacturing operations, assembly, testing and troubleshooting, to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, managing inventory, maintaining equipment, enforcing safety/quality standards, and leading staff. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure operational excellence. While production is the primary responsibility, the position also oversees the company’s Quality Assurance Program to maintain compliance with ISO standards, manage audits, and uphold customer satisfaction through robust quality practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Management

  • Lead and manage all aspects of production operations to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, resource plans, and workflow optimization strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational performance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing teams to meet production goals and specifications.
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in all production activities.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes, vendors, and suppliers for operational efficiency and reliability.

Quality Assurance

  • Support the development and implementation of quality management strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO 9001 certification/recertification and participate in audits as needed.
  • Participate in Quality System audits and annual Quality Management Review meetings.
  • Respond to customer complaints and quality issues in coordination with the QA team.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manger to ensure inspection and testing activities meet quality standards.
  • Contribute to strategic analysis of quality performance data to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
  • Partner with QA to evaluate manufacturing processes, vendors, and suppliers for quality compliance.

Leadership & Administration

  • Provide strategic leadership by managing and developing production and quality teams to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Ensure accuracy of time sheets and oversee timely submission to payroll, maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the creation and review of job descriptions for production and quality roles to align talent with business needs.
  • Communicate clear performance objectives and quality standards, fostering accountability and a culture of excellence.
  • Resolve worker grievances effectively or escalate unresolved issues to HR and senior management, ensuring a positive work environment.
  • Drive operational improvements by aligning team goals with long-term business strategies and implementing initiatives that enhance productivity and quality outcomes.
  • Inventory & Resource Management: Requisition materials, manage work-in-progress (WIP) inventory, and ensure sufficient stock for production needs.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the setup, routine maintenance, and repair of production machinery.
  • Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks, analyze production reports, and implement improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain production records, update work instructions, and report on performance metrics to upper management.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve equipment or process issues directly on the production floor. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production and/or quality leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, IPC or ACCI standards, and ISO certifications.
  • Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Professional certification with ASQ (preferred).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, fostering engagement and professional growth.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust, influence stakeholders, and lead cross-functional collaboration effectively.
