Job Summary:
Provide technical support in resolving manufacturing-oriented problems derived from a variety of sources including equipment, tooling, procedures, processing materials or new products manufacturing implementation. Evaluate and implement alternative methods and techniques to increase assembly labor efficiency. Originate and develop complex mechanical designs for microwave amplifiers, housings, carriers, flanges, heat sinks, hybrid packages, production and microelectronics fixturing. Originate and/ or update manufacturing and MET processing and assembly documentation.
Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain awareness of the latest technical advances in related components, processing materials, assembly equipment for manufacturing and Microelectronics Technology.
- Develop complex designs for hybrid module housings, manufacturing tooling & fixtures using CAD.
- Prepare necessary drawings and sketches to initiate new assembly production.
- Plan and conduct experiments to test, prove, or modify processing materials, jig & fixtures to enhance product construction and or reduce labor content.
- Assist Project Engineers in developing assembly methods, procedures and processes during the development of new prototype and/or modifications to existing products.
- Evaluate design ideas based on factors such as design-function relationships, materials, methods, application, budget, price and production costs.
- Use software to prepare and control all documentation necessary for the production of designs.
- Conduct thermal simulation and CTE mechanical simulation.
- Initiate ECN’s and prepare design changes to new and existing products, as needed.
- Assist Designers in achieving scheduled goals.
- Assemble prototypes and build breadboards for use in evaluating new circuitry.
- Provide accurate verbal and written reports of test results.
- Prepare written instructions for manufacturing processes, manufacturing assembly procedures and production equipment instructions.
- Operate, program and maintain in good operation high-tech equipment such as: automatic and semi-automatic wire bonders, die attach and all other essential equipment used in the manufacturing of MET and RF assemblies.
- Assist Supervisors, Technicians, and Assemblers in their training during new product or processing implementation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years related experience, or Associates degree and 12 years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in Microelectronics fabrication technology and electrical/mechanical design
- Micro-electronic lay-out and metal housing design experience
- Micro-electronic fabrication, processing, packaging as required to achieve high frequency power amplifiers based on thin film and thick film substrates with open die fabrication
- Intimate knowledge of wire-bonding processes, techniques, equipment set-up to achieve required wire-bonding loop height and bond pull strength using ultrasonic and thermo-compression bonding
- Die bonding processes, techniques and equipment set up including eutectic and epoxy
- Knowledge of Clean Room specifications, rules and processes required to maintain a functioning Clean Room
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and schematic drawings
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools
- Proficiency in MS office programs
