Job Summary:
Responsible for assembling complex microelectronic hybrid circuits based on thick and thin film substrates populated with wire bonded die and surface mounted components, utilizing microelectronic hybrid assembly techniques and equipment. Provide support to convert a prototype hybrid circuit into a production model, by interfacing with CAD and engineering departments. Document processes, assembly methods, prepare documentation to serve as basis for assembly drawings. Train the MET Engineering Support Technician/Wire bonder to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of the evolution of forming a prototype from an engineering concept to a preproduction product. Review assembly drawings for accuracy and write ECN’s as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble prototype and preproduction hybrid circuits from sketches and assembly drawings.
- Determine optimal materials and assembly techniques for preproduction units.
- Collaborate with engineering to modify prototypes and meet design requirements.
- Review working prototypes and recommend efficient production layouts.
- Coordinate with purchasing and engineering teams on material delivery status.
- Assist incoming inspection with acceptance or rejection of new parts.
- Expedite material movement to designated engineers or location.
- Assemble hybrid modules using industry-standard processes (e.g., solder reflow, epoxy attach, wire bonding, hermetic sealing).
- Operate specialized equipment such as wire bonders, reflow machines, microscopes, welders, and testers.
- Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials and work-in-progress.
- Recommend process improvements and product changes.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and military hybrid assembly standards.
- Perform wire bond pull tests and die attach shear testing, record results for analysis.

Education and/or Experience:
- High School plus 1-3 years in hybrid technology fabrication experience.
- Must be able to interpret sketches, drawings, part list and process documentation.
- Ability and willingness to train personnel in hybrid technology fabrication.
