Job Description: 

The Hughes-Treitler Business Unit designs and manufactures state of the art plate-fin heat exchangers, cold plates, condensers, evaporators, and other heat transfer products. We provide custom design and engineering services, to high quality manufacturing standards, for the aircraft, engine and industrial heat exchangers in the mobile/marine/avionics/space and missile markets.

 

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Level II Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician - Penetrant Testing (PT) to join our aerospace manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing Penetrant Testing (PT) inspections in accordance with applicable standards, procedures, and customer requirements to ensure product conformity, quality, and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Penetrant Testing Inspections

  • Perform Penetrant Testing (PT), including Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) and Visible Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI), in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Prepare parts for inspection, including cleaning and surface condition verification.
  • Apply penetrant, emulsifier, and developer in accordance with process instructions.
  • Conduct visual inspections under white light or ultraviolet (UV) light.
  • Identify, evaluate, and document indications based on applicable acceptance criteria.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Complete inspection reports and associated quality records.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with quality management system requirements.
  • Ensure full traceability of inspected components.
  • Record inspection results in applicable quality and production systems.

Equipment Control

  • Perform daily inspections and verification of NDT equipment and systems.
  • Monitor and verify penetrant line process parameters.
  • Verify UV light intensity and environmental conditions required for inspection activities.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and process abnormalities.

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure inspections are performed in compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Follow requirements of NAS410, EN4179, AS9100, NADCAP, and internal procedures.
  • Support Quality, Engineering, and Production teams in the investigation of nonconformances.
  • Participate in internal, customer, and certification audits as required.

Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements related to chemical handling and UV exposure.
  • Use prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and process waste.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization in accordance with 5S principles.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve inspection processes and workflow efficiency.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Support qualification of new processes and implementation of process changes.
  • Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing training activities.

 

Required Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or technical/vocational education required.
  • Technical degree or coursework in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Aerospace, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • Previous experience performing NDT Penetrant Testing inspections.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; aerospace experience preferred.

Certifications

  • Certified PT Level II in accordance with NAS410 or EN4179.
  • Current vision examination meeting NDT certification requirements.
  • Additional aerospace customer certifications are an advantage.

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Penetrant Testing (PT/FPI) processes and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate inspection indications in accordance with acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with quality documentation and inspection records.

Salary Range - 7,200 - 8,800 PLN gross/monthly
