Job Summary:
The Production Supervisor for 2nd shift is responsible for supporting multiple product-based manufacturing work cells in achieving their goals including employee safety, product quality, on-time delivery, and cost. This is a hands-on position that is responsible for maximizing daily throughput and driving efficiency to improve profitability. This position plays an integral part in factory operations and has responsibility for developing and maintaining motivated staff while achieving budgetary and production targets. Primary manufacturing activities include electromechanical assembly and testing of programmable power supply chassis, modules, and printed circuit boards.
The Production Supervisor must ensure all 2nd shift team members adhere to all AMETEK policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Environmental/Health/Safety, ISO 9001, and Human Resources.
The standard production hours for the 2nd shift team are Monday through Friday, 2:00pm to 10:30pm. Also, it is expected that the 2nd Shift Production Supervisor will support additional hours as required during the week and/or occasional weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily direction, development and leadership to the factory-wide production team on 2nd made up of Assemblers, Operators, and Technicians. This includes setting work schedules, reviewing/ approving timecards, conflict resolution, necessary disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Partner closely with 1st shift Production Leaders to understand daily priorities and drive 2nd shift team to execute work in support of customer deliverables. Provide daily end-of-shift reports on safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity accomplishments/constraints.
- Interface with all relevant support functions (Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality) to overcome constraints and achieve customer fulfillment expectations.
- Responsible for supporting achievement of key performance indicators (KPI) related to revenue, on-time delivery, first pass yield, and overtime labor. Implement corrective actions in response to KPI’s not achieving targets.
- Perform hands-on assembly and/or test operations as time allows.
- Support Lean Daily Management practices including tiered escalation protocols to gather inputs from team members and escalate issues to cross-functional leadership for rapid response and resolution.
- Implement continuous improvement activities through Lean Manufacturing principles, including 6S, Gemba Walks, Leader Standard Work, visual controls, and root cause problem solving.
- Analyze variances between direct labor standards and actuals, support continuous improvements to reduce variances.
- Support employee/career development to teams of Assemblers, Operators, and Technicians. Maintain current and future state head count requirements plan for all teams.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Test Engineering teams to review, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures for all production operations.
- Maintain sufficient cross-training to mitigate risks of single point failures and/or tribal knowledge.
- Maintain robust inventory handling/management to ensure part count accuracy.
- Maintain equipment calibration and preventive maintenance programs.
- Report on any environmental, health, and safety issues to the EHS Manager. Lead emergency evacuation procedures as required on behalf of all 2nd shift employees.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills):
- 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations with a minimum of 2 years at a leadership level.
- Experience in production leadership for electromechanical assembly and test.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with employees, other departments, and senior management.
- Strong computer literacy in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
- Strong data-driven decision-making skills and results-driven approach.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic test equipment (power analyzers, wave form generators, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc).
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and ISO quality systems.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant discipline such as Operations Management, Electronics, Engineering or similar.
