Job Title: Electrical Engineer Intern, Power Electronics

Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer Intern performs related duties in the development of AC and DC power conversion hardware and at the system and circuit level, during the product development cycle. This position is onsite in San Diego, CA. It is a year round intern position with the expectation to work 20-28 hours during the school year with the opportunity to work full-time during breaks.
Responsibilities:
The focus for this assignment will be on a new design challenge – release new product family of AC or DC source. Projects/tasks include but are not limited to:
- EOL – end of life project driven by marketing to replace old legacy product with Asterion DC 1U or 2U.
- Bi-directional PFC – evaluation and report of 3 potential technology from three different company. Create summary table based on results. Work with senior engineer on detailed selection of future material.
- ASPS new product development – work with Senior engineer on evaluation and problem solving of high switching module. Start work on selecting material for extend power of module.
- Extension of Asterion DC with disconnect and polarity switch. Evaluation, report and release. Work with Other intern under technician supervision.
Requirements:
- Junior or Senior year studying Electrical Engineering.
- Must be able to commit min 20 to 28 hours per week during school year.
- Knowledge of design of analog and digital electronics, working experience a plus.
- Proficient in common engineering design tools, such as simulation software, mathematical analysis, schematic capture, MS Excel/Word, and database applications.
- Knowledge with PWB layout software is desirable.
- Knowledge is desirable in the use of PC-based development tools and firmware (C, C++, Visual Basic) for microcontrollers, DSPs, and user interface (data communications, GUIs).
- Good interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to multitask effectively and meet deadlines.
Salary Range: $25.00 to 30.00 per hour
