Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer supports component engineering and product engineering activities for programmable power products. This role is primarily focused on component engineering and support of new product development (NPD) and sustaining engineering activities. The engineer will collaborate with the India Component Engineering team, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering teams to support component qualification, lifecycle management, BOM maintenance, product development, product testing, engineering changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Component Engineering
- Support the selection, qualification, and validation of electronic and electromechanical components.
- Identify and evaluate alternate components to address obsolescence, availability, lead-time, quality, and cost concerns.
- Monitor component lifecycle status and support end-of-life and obsolescence mitigation activities.
- Review and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to component updates, substitutions, and lifecycle changes.

Coordinate with the India Component Engineering team on component qualification, technical reviews, lifecycle management activities, and cross-time-zone collaboration as required.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to address sourcing, availability, supplier, and material-related issues.
- Support supplier and component technical evaluations and maintain the related engineering documentation.
New Product Development (NPD) and Sustaining Engineering Support
- Support power product development, product release, pilot builds, and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with product testing, validation, verification, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations.
- Support manufacturing builds and collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in design reviews and support engineering changes affecting new and existing products.
- Prepare and maintain schematics, specifications, test procedures, reports, manuals, and other technical documentation.
- Support product quality, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Track assigned activities, follow up on action items, and communicate progress to cross-functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Internship, co-op, academic project, or up to one year of relevant experience in electrical engineering, component engineering, product engineering, or a related field.
- Due to the nature of our programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and must also be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.
Desired Qualifications:
- Understanding of electronic components, analog and digital circuits, and power electronics.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
- Familiarity with engineering design and analysis tools, schematic capture, Microsoft Excel and Word, and database applications.
- Hands-on experience using common laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and power supplies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with global and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with component qualification, lifecycle management, obsolescence management, or alternate-part evaluation.
- Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including ARAS and Oracle.
- Experience with switched-mode power conversion products, programmable AC/DC power systems, or related power-electronics applications.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, supplier coordination, and design for manufacturability, testability, and serviceability.
- Exposure to PWB layout, feedback controls, magnetics, embedded controllers, modeling, or simulation.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
