Position Summary

The MRO Buyer is responsible for coordinating and executing the procurement of maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies, chemicals, and parts to support production and facility operations. This role involves sourcing, vendor management, cost analysis, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to maintain optimal inventory levels and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Procurement & Sourcing
    • Process authorized purchase requisitions for MRO supplies, chemicals, and machine shop materials.
    • Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
    • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
  • Inventory & Replenishment
    • Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies to maintain stock control.
    • Ensure availability of critical parts and supplies to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Order Management & Follow-Up
    • Track and follow up on purchase orders to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment.
    • Resolve discrepancies related to pricing, delivery, or quality with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Coordinate with accounting, shipping/receiving, stockroom, and other departments to support purchasing activities.
    • Maintain clear communication across departments to ensure alignment on material needs and priorities.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Maintain detailed records of purchasing activities, expenses, and vendor performance.
    • Ensure all purchases comply with company policies and established procurement procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Participate in cross-training and collaborate with other departments to enhance skills and support career development.
    • Recommend process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications and Skills  

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and record-keeping practices.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions.
  • Familiarity with procurement software or ERP systems is a plus.
