Zygo/Navitar has a history of designing innovative, next generation optical solutions ranging from modular zoom and fixed lens systems, ultra-precision microscope objectives, high volume electronic imaging lenses, cine prime lenses, and more.

 

 As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will embark on an exciting 11-week journey, working on impactful projects that allow you to develop essential engineering skills and contribute to meaningful advancements in our products and processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Fixture Development: Design and develop fixturing solutions for Navitar Precision alignment fixtures.
  • Automation Implementation: Create procedures and processes to implement automation and data collection for products.
  • Testing and Use Cases: Develop testing protocols and use cases for Navitar products to ensure quality and performance.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Contribute to Engineering Change Orders within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Customer and Production Support: Work with customers and the production team to troubleshoot and resolve product-related issues.

Preferred Majors or Coursework:

  • Mechatronics Engineering Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Programming Proficiency: Experience with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, C#, and C++.
  • Mechanical Design Knowledge: Familiarity with CAD software and mechanical engineering design principles.
  • Engineering Expertise: Understanding of engineering design theories and principles related to the area of assignment.
  • Technical Writing: Ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation.
  • Presentation Skills: Strong communication skills to present ideas effectively to all levels of management.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
