We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join our Extreme Precision Optics team in Richmond, CA.
As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will design, integrate, and optimize advanced manufacturing and metrology systems, combining mechanical, electrical, controls, and software disciplines to deliver high-performance automation solutions. This position is onsite.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- System Design & Integration - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to review and develop equipment requirements; design, architect, and integrate automated manufacturing and metrology systems.
- Equipment Development & Improvement - Learn, maintain, troubleshoot, and continuously improve existing manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Technical Execution - Interpret electrical schematics and specifications; integrate hardware systems including embedded controls and PLCs; support multi-axis motion control systems.
- Project Planning & Delivery - Develop equipment development plans including cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with software engineering, operations, and production teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Training & Knowledge Sharing - Provide technical training and guidance to engineering and production staff.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineer (Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Computer Science with controls focus).
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience designing and integrating precision manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure adherence to standards.
- Collaborative, team player who can provide training and knowledge sharing across teams, to partner with software engineering
- Results-driven problem-solver who can manage priorities in a fast-paced environment; balancing technical knowledge with business objectives.
- Proactive communicator who is detail oriented, collaborative and organized.
- Quality and improvement focused, continuously seeking efficiency enhancements to processes.
- Background in the manufacturing of precision optics, or complex optical assemblies is preferred.
